Organization

Founded in 2019, Real Forest, s.r.o. (RF) is a family-operated enterprise that combines current research knowledge with practical forest management. We aim to convert cutting-edge research into close-to-nature forestry practices, ensuring ecological sustainability and forest owner viability. We provide evidence-based professional guidance to private forest owners in Slovakia, personalized management plans tailored to individual stakeholder needs. Core Competencies: We merge emerging scientific insights, especially from esteemed partners, into actionable strategies. Our methods balance ecological care with commercial practicality, with a focus on diverse terrains, including oak forests. Tasks in the project

Development of innovative guidelines

The main contribution of RF is the synthesis of scientific knowledge from all project partners into practical management programmes and guidelines specifically to forest stands managed by Mestské lesy Krupina, s.r.o (FKC). These tools will define specific procedures for the transformation of even-aged forests into structurally more diverse and resilient forests, in accordance with the principles of close-to-nature forestry.

Development of monitoring systems

RF contributes to the development and implementation of a monitoring system focused on gap dynamics and the impacts of game on forest ecosystems, in close cooperation with Pilis Park Forestry Company (PPFC). The monitoring system will serve as a feedback tool for evaluating the effectiveness of proposed forest management measures and for their continuous optimisation.

Dissemination of best practice examples

The company promotes the project results within the wider European forestry community and contributes to the development of “best practice” standards for close-to-nature forestry in the Central European region, strengthening the link between scientific research and forestry practice.
